His Majesty the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej Memorial Day on the 13th October:

His Majesty the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej died on 13 October 2016. The late King took the throne in 1946, reigned for 70 years, and came to be called “Father of the Nation”.
His Majesty had always stressed the importance of basics, because only when the fundamentals are strong can development be sustainable. His Majesty therefore sought to help the poor by encouraging them to start from the first step of having enough to eat and to live on” before embarking on more ambitious goals. Hence, His Majesty developed a philosophy of “sufficiency economy” as a way of life for the Thai people.
Chulalongkorn Day on the 23rd October:
October 23rd is a national holiday in Thailand to mark Chulalongkorn Day. The public holiday commemorates one of Thailand’s most revered kings.
King Chulalongkorn came to the throne when he was just 16 years old. His long reign proved to be one of foresight and modernisation. At a time when colonial powers such as Britain, France and Portugal were extending their influence in Asia, King Chulalongkorn managed to keep Thailand independent with a clever mixture of diplomacy and leadership.
Portraits of King Chulalongkorn are believed to be a good luck charm for businesses.
